Faculty of Tourism

The Faculty of Tourism was officially established in January 2019, formerly known as Department of Tourism Management (Faculty of Economics). Through the development of the Faculty, there have been over 1000 graduates contributing to the highly qualified workforce for the tourism industry. In recent years, a lot of qualified prospective students have enrolled in the tourism program of NTU, proving its credibility to the public. . 

The Faculty currently has 16 staff members, including 02 Associate Professors, 02 PhD students and 12 Masters. Most of them gained degrees in developed countries. Currently, there are two main undergraduate programs, which are Tourism Management; and Hospitality Management.

In addition, the Faculty has launched two distinctive programs: the Vietnamese-French Bilingual Business Administration and Tourism (since 2013) in collaboration with universities in France, and the Francophone University Association in Asia-Pacific; and the Profession-Oriented Higher Education (POHE) Program in Hospitality Management (since 2019) POHE program combines theories and practice, with the highlight is the apprenticeship in luxury hotels and resorts. A number of modules are taught in English.

In terms of short courses, the Faculty regularly offers courses in Professional Tour Operation and Tour Guiding. 

In order to improve the quality of teaching, learning and research, the Faculty of Tourism continues to enhance the development of  lecturers and staff members; promoting scientific research activities;  developing more study programs including undergraduate level-transfer, second-degree and master programs in Business Administration in Tourism and Hospitality Industry; collaborating with other faculties and institutions;  cooperating with businesses in the tourism industry to facilitate students during the learning process,  internships and employment; strengthening international cooperation in designing programs and carrying out projects related to tourism and marine economics.

  • Tourism Management

1. Introduction

Tourism is the key economic sector as Vietnam's tourism industry development strategy to 2030 has affirmed its goal of making Vietnam an attractive and high-class destination in the region. Demand for human resources ranges from vocational to graduate levels. Specifically, by 2020, the market needs 870,000 workers with university, 117,000 workers with college and postgraduate qualifications, and 174,000 workers with vocational or equivalent qualifications.

Nha Trang University is honored to be one of a few first institutions in the South-Central Coast region and the Central Highlands that offers the courses of Tourism and Travel Management; Tour Operation and Tour Guiding. These courses meet the growing demand by producing well-trained students for challenging tourism industry.

2. Course details

The programs are designed to meet the requirements of tourism industry. Students will develop a detailed understanding of theories, principles, and practices; as well as the appropriate attitude for a career in service industry.

As the Faculty have fostered the cooperation and collaboration with educational institutions and travel businesses, our students have opportunities for cooperation with several excellent individuals and organizations; join in exchange programs with other university and internship in travel companies.

The Faculty aims to provide the highly effective learning environment to students through strong team of professional and enthusiast lecturers, eco-friendly and beautiful campuses.

3. Career

Our graduates have gained a variety of positions within tourism/travel and the wider service industries. With the firm foundation, many graduates have continued pursue further professional and academic qualifications; obtain positions in educational institutions and government agencies.

4. Scholarship

Students can continue to study Master’s degree in France if they obtain the Bachelor degree of Tourism Vietnamese-French Bilingual Business Administration and Tourism

  • Hospitality Management

The course offers students learning environment and educational activities for students to shape and develop knowledge, attitude, and necessary skills to be successful in their future career in hospitality.

Students will study the theories, principles, and practices in hospitality, as well as the appropriate attitude for a career in service industry. Students will develop a wide range of soft skills such as: presentation and time management; collect and analyze information; problem solving; group management and leadership; working independently and in team; communication and interpersonal relations, information technology and foreign languages.

 Short courses:

Tourism Faculty offers two national wide recognized training courses with certificates in Tour operation (Domestics and International) and Tour guiding (Domestics and International) for people who want to sharpen their understandings and professional skill set. The courses focus on essential knowledge and practical preparation to successfully pursue a career in tourism industry. The examination is organized every two months.

Entry requirements:

- Domestic and international tour guiding: Applicants must have a diploma of vocational training or higher (for domestic tour guide); college or higher (for international tour guide).

- Domestic and international tour operation: Applicants must have a diploma of vocational training or higher degree which is not in tourism major (Domestic Tour Operation); college or higher degree which is not in tourism major (International Tour Operation).

Research interest:

The aim is expanding scientific research activities of both lecturers and students by proactively proposing/bidding for scientific projects of Nha Trang University, provincial government agencies, Ministry and other organizations; developing cooperation with international institutions to foster exchange, training programs and conduct research projects related to tourism and marine economics.
