With over 65 years of development, Nha Trang University has carried out more than 980 research projects, of which more than 200 have been developed into master’s and doctoral theses. Notably, over 200 of these projects have resulted in practical applications that directly benefit Vietnamese fishermen. For instance, fishermen in Ca Mau, Khanh Hoa, Quang Binh, Thai Binh, Nam Dinh, Ninh Binh, and Binh Thuan provinces are now applying NTU-developed technologies to produce high-quality seed of Tiger Shrimp (Penaeus monodon).

In Quang Binh and Ca Mau provinces, fishermen have engaged in intensive tiger shrimp culture in sandy ponds using techniques researched and developed at NTU. In the central provinces, new technologies for the artificial reproduction and farming of seabass, sandbass, and sakehead fish, pioneered at NTU, are being effectively adopted. Another significant area of research with strong practical application is the use of composite materials in boat construction. Shipbuilders in Quang Ngai, Khanh Hoa, and Ba Ria Vung Tau have applied NTU’s research outcomes to build both fishing and tourism vessels using composite technology.

Additionally, NTU has made notable progress in the production of Chitin–Chitosan from fishery by-products, as well as in the development of surimi and shrimp/crab-based analogue products. These products have already reached international markets across various countries and territories, underscoring the University’s contributions to innovation and technology transfer in the fisheries sector.
