1. Introduction
The predecessor of the Department of Information Technology at Nha Trang University was the Computer Science Division. In 1993, the Information Technology program was launched at Nha Trang University through a collaborative training partnership between Nha Trang University and Hanoi University of Science and Technology. This partnership helped foster the development of the Information Technology program at Nha Trang University. With the rapid development of information technology nationwide, in 2000 the Ministry of Education and Training authorized Nha Trang University to independently offer the Information Technology program. On January 17, 2003, the Department of Information Technology was established with three divisions: Computer Science, Information Systems, and Knowledge Technology. Starting in 2006, the Department of Information Technology comprised four divisions: Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Networks & Communications, and Software Engineering. In early November 2011, the Computer Science Department merged with the Software Engineering Department; the Department also absorbed the Mathematics Department from the Basic Sciences Department. Along with the growing prestige of the heroic Nha Trang University, the Department of Information Technology has continuously developed into a reputable information technology training institution in Khanh Hoa Province and throughout the country.
