Department of Automotive and Power Engineering was established through the merger of the Power Mechanical Engineering programme and the Automotive Engineering programme (formerly part of the Department of Transport Engineering). To date, the Department has a total of 12 academic staff, including 2 Associate Professors, 4 PhDs and 7 MSc graduates.
Department of Automotive and Power Engineering is one of the leading units in education, scientific research and technology transfer. Currently, the Department offers undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in the following specific fields:
- Undergraduate level: Automotive Engineering, Power Mechanical Engineering
- Postgraduate level: Automotive Engineering, Power Mechanical Engineering
- Doctoral level: Power Mechanical Engineering
In addition to its educational responsibilities, the Department also undertakes scientific research projects, provides consultancy services and facilitates technology transfer within its relevant fields of expertise. Specifically:
- Consultancy, design modifications and optimisation of vehicle efficiency.
- Consultancy on the design and guidance on the use of modern quality inspection equipment for the maintenance, servicing and technical repair of motor vehicles, motorised vehicles and power machinery.
- Consultancy on the design, manufacture, technology transfer and equipment for fisheries operations on fishing vessels.
- Consultancy on technical solutions to reduce environmental pollution caused by emissions from vehicle and marine engines, and solutions for determining the power output of used engines, etc.
- Consultancy, teaching, and guidance on the transfer of specialised software in Power Mechanical Engineering and Automotive Engineering.
