Department of Social Sciences and Humanities, formerly known as the Department of Marxism-Leninism, was established in July 1970. The department excels in teaching, scientific research, and human resource development in the fields of social sciences, humanities, and political theory, meeting the socio-economic development needs of the South Central Coast, the Central Highlands, and the entire country. Pursuant to Decision No. 600/QĐ-ĐHNT, dated April 29, 2025, issued by the President regarding the promulgation of regulations on the duties and authorities of units under and affiliated with Nha Trang University, the Department of Social Sciences and Humanities has the following duties and authorities:
* Functions: Assist the President in managing and organizing the implementation of:
1. Educational activities and ensuring the quality of higher education (university) programs at all levels; short-term training and continuing education programs assigned to the department’s management.
2. Scientific and technological research activities, technology transfer, international cooperation, and collaboration with scientific and technological organizations and businesses regarding training, scientific research, and technology transfer.
3. Community service activities consistent with the assigned field of expertise.
4. Providing advice and proposing directions and tasks for the development of the department.
5. Manage research and science and technology service activities in accordance with the assigned field of expertise.
6. Manage faculty members, staff, students, trainees, and graduate students (learners) of the department.
* Carry out the following activities and tasks:
1. Training activities.
2. Science and technology activities.
3. Community service activities.
4. Management of the department, faculty, and staff.
5. Collaborate with the Office of Student Affairs to advise on and propose solutions and measures regarding propaganda and political-ideological education for faculty, staff, and students within the university
6. Participate in serving as a lecturer and developing outlines for reports on current affairs and resolutions as assigned by the President.
7. Collaborate with the Office of Student Affairs and the University Office to write propaganda articles commemorating major holidays and the Party’s policies and guidelines, as well as the State’s laws and regulations.
8. Collaborate with the Center for Information and Resource to organize the collection, supplementation, and archiving of materials, and manage information on former faculty and staff, alumni, and students at the University’s Heritage Hall.
