The V2WORK Final Conference & 1st VEES-NET Annual Meeting

29-31 March, 2021: Nha Trang University, together with our partners, organized the Final Conference of the Erasmus+ project V2WORK “Strengthening the Vietnamese Higher Education System to improve graduates’ employability and entrepreneurship skills” and the annual meeting of the Vietnam Employability and Entrepreneurship Support Network (VEES-NET).

 

There was the representative of the Ministry of Education and Training, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Quang Hung - Director of International Cooperation Department. The conference was held in a combination of face-to-face and online formats, with the participation of members in Europe and 8 member universities in Vietnam, along with representatives from several enterprises from many localities. For Nha Trang University, there were the participation of Dr. Khong Trung Thang - Chairman of the University Council and representatives of related units.

The objectives of the conference are (1) to summarize all activities of the project and (2) to connect, develop cooperation among universities in the VEES-NET and with other universities, policy-makers, businesses to build up a nationwide network to support employability and entrepreneurship skills for Vietnamese students. The V2WORK Final Conference & 1st VEES-NET Annual Meeting were expected to be a platform to exchange points of view and experiences on supporting students and graduates to improve their employability and take their first steps on the path to become a successful entrepreneur.

The V2WORK project has been implemented for 3.5 years since October 2017 with three main goals: (1) Modernize career support services of 8 Vietnamese universities by building institutional and human capacities in employability and entrepreneurship skills to help them become efficient and dynamic instruments to promote and support employability and entrepreneurship among students and graduates; (2) Reinforce university-enterprise relationships through the development of mechanisms to foster active involvement of enterprises in the Career Centers (CaCe); and (3) Contribute to develop networking among Vietnamese universities to address the lack of a unified higher education or labor market information management system.

The project has achieved a number of outstanding results such as: More than 100 staff members, lecturers participated in training programs taught by European partners, 1,099 CaCe members, managers and academic staff trained through V2WORK training of trainers modules, replication seminars, online courses. Besides, dozens of domestic and international seminars on the field of employability and entrepreneurship in Vietnam were held. The impact from this project has helped the CaCes of member universities upgrade their infrastructure, enhance staff capacities to meet the needs of employability and entrepreneurship support of students. The project also provided more than 100 programs and activities to support employability skills for more than 30,000 students, 130 programs to support startups with the participation of 28,884 students; organized 8 start-up idea contests at university level and one startup contest with the participation of all university members. In particular, the Vietnam Employability and Entrepreneurship Support Network (VEES-NET) was founded and launched on October 29-30, 2020 in Hanoi by universities members in V2WORK project in Vietnam.

As a partner in the V2WORK project, Nha Trang University has implemented many activities to help improve students' soft skills and the employability skills of graduates, organize startup competitions for students, strengthen relationships with the labor market ... In the last 3 years, the Center for Business Relations and Student Support of NTU has supported about 1,000 students to improve their professional skills, more than 700 students and graduates in finding jobs through job fairs, supported more than 800 students in employability and entrepreneurship skills, and organized training courses for staffs to support students’ employability and entrepreneurship skills.

The V2WORK project “Strengthening the Vietnamese Higher Education System to improve graduates’ employability and entrepreneurship skills” started in October 2017 was a project within the Erasmus+ program granted by European Committee. Its members included European and Vietnamese partners. The project was coordinated by University of Alicante (Spain) and the participation of University of Coimbra (Portugal) and FH Joanneum University (Austria). Vietnamese partners included Ministry of Education and Training (MOET), Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), AIESEC Vietnam, and 8 universities: University of Social Sciences and Humanities HCM(HCM-USSH), Tra Vinh University (TVU),   Thu Dau Mot University (TDMU), Nha Trang University (NTU), Tay Nguyen University (TNU),   The University of Danang (UD), Industrial University of Vinh (IUV), and Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST).
