Activities of the Project “Preventing, reducing and recycling fishing gear waste that causes pollution in Vietnamese waters” in Germany
On September 16, 2024, as part of the project “Preventing, reducing and recycling fishing gear waste that causes pollution in Vietnamese waters” (REVFIN), Professor Trang Si Trung, Rector of Nha Trang University, along with members of the delegation, visited the Institute for Research and Technology Transfer in Recycling at Ostfalia University of Applied Sciences in the Federal Republic of Germany.
This institute is a leading research center specializing in plastic engineering and the recycling of complex composite materials, equipped with a modern pilot plant and a laboratory covering 1,000 square meters. The REVFIN project is an innovative research and development initiative that mainly tackled the problem of fishing gear waste along Vietnam’s coastlines. The German Federal Ministry for Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety, and Consumer Protection funds the project in collaboration with Ostfalia University and several Vietnamese universities and research institutes.
Professor Max Ehleben, the head of the institute, along with other faculty members, offered detailed guidance and showcased the facilities and experimental equipment to the delegation.
Nha Trang University is one of the strategic partners in the project, actively engaging in research, technology application, and knowledge transfer in the recycling sector. The project aims to protect resources and marine environments and promote sustainable economic development in Vietnam.
Collaborating with Ostfalia University and international partners in the REVFIN project not only enhances Nha Trang University’s research capabilities but also opens up numerous opportunities for the transfer of advanced technology in recycling, contributing to environmental protection and sustainable development goals.
