ECOViP Project Successfully Organizes Focus Group Discussions on Sustainable Tourism Education
From September 14th to 20th, 2024, the "Fostering Innovation and Entrepreneurship in Ecotourism to Support Sustainable Development in Vietnam and the Philippines" project (ECOViP) successfully organized four focused group discussions, which included numerous tourism experts, lecturers, businesses, students, and alumni.
At these discussions, participants exchanged views and conducted in-depth assessments of the current quality of education, proposing improvements to meet the growing demands of the labour market. With a diverse range of participants, the discussions provided comprehensive perspectives on the current state of tourism education. Key issues focused on enhancing student skills to meet market needs, evaluating tourism curricula, orienting towards developing eco-tourism and sustainability, and seeking solutions to address environmental, socio-cultural, and economic challenges.
Through these discussions, delegates agreed on the importance of continuous training and updating knowledge and skills for tourism human resources. At the same time, businesses expressed their desire to closely collaborate with universities to create internship, research, and entrepreneurship opportunities for students.
The results of these focus group discussions will serve as a crucial foundation for the ECOViP project, which aims to develop high-quality training programs and entrepreneurial competency frameworks for students, meet market demands, and contribute to the sustainable development of Vietnam's tourism industry.
