International workshop of BMPs for culture-based fisheries and relevant capacity building needs

 

September 6th-10th, 2015: The Institute of Aquaculture along with the United Nations University Fisheries Training Programme (UNU-FTP) and Network of Aquaculture Centres in Asia-Pacific (NACA) organized an international workshop of BMPs for culture-based fisheries and relevant capacity building needs.


 

With the participation of international experts in the field of fisheries from Iceland, Australia, Thailand, China, Sri-Lanka and Vietnam, the workshop updated and finalized the outline of guidelines for culture-based fisheries for inland waters, as well as designed contents of a short-term training program for individuals and organizations who will make policy and conduct aquaculture techniques programs in the developing countries of Asia and Africa.

This is an annual activity sponsored by NACA. The upcoming training course in 2016 will be held with the attendance of 25 participants from Bangladesh, Cambodia, China, India, Indonesia, Laos, Pakistan, Vietnam, Sri Lanka, Kenya, Rwanda, Ghana, and Cameroon.
