Topic of the competition this year was “Solutions for socio-economic recovery after Covid pandemic”. Through preliminary and semi-final rounds, the Organization Committee selected the eight best projects among 20 ones to be in the final competition. These projects are: (1) Supplemental nutrition drinks made from cordyceps; (2) Handmade soap production; (3) An application to support and improve English listening skill; (4) Hare raising in semi-natural habitat; (5) E-commerce solution to save seafood; (6) Application of automation in whiteleg shrimp farming; (7) Production of organic fertilizers from biodegradable and kitchen waste, the application of “5 No” strategy for organic gardening; and (8) Application of 4.0 fashion industry. 

 

At the final competition, each team had to give presentations about their projects and questioned by the Organization Committee. The projects were assessed with a set of criteria: feasibility,  customer segments, goal, value, creativity, and implementation capacity. Having an outstanding performance, the project “Supplemental nutrition drinks made from cordyceps” was named the winner while the “Handmade soap production” project was announced the runner-up of the competition. The two projects “Application of automation in whiteleg shrimp farming” and “Production of organic fertilizers from biodegradable and kitchen waste, the application of “5 No” strategy for organic gardening” ranked third while the consolation prizes belonged to “An application to support and improve English listening skill” and “E-commerce solution to save seafood” projects. 

The prizes were worth of VND 25 million, VND 15 million, VND 5 million for the first, second and third ranks respectively. At the same time, they got certificates of merit from NTU’s Rector and will have opportunity to implement their projects with the support of investors as well as represent NTU to attend exhibitions or competitions held by the Ministry of Education and Training or other units.

 

 

The Startup Idea Competition NTU 2020 was launched since June 2020 by Nha Trang University. The competition received the interest and support from some businesses in Khanh Hoa province. The competition aimed at looking for startup ideas on socio-economic recovery after Covid pandemic in the fields of economy, society, education, health, environment, etc. These startup ideas are expected to help solve existing issues during Covid and recover socio-economic activities for sustainable development in the future.
