Workshop on building Vietnam's entrepreneurial competencies framework within the framework of the ECOViP Project
On July 29 and 30, 2024, the Workshop on Building Vietnam's Entrepreneurial Competencies Framework within the framework of the Fostering Innovation and Entrepreneurship in Ecotourism to support sustainable development in Vietnam and the Philippines (ECOViP) was held at Nha Trang University.
The workshop was attended by nearly 40 delegates representing the official partners of the ECOViP Project, the Project's associated partners, and several universities and colleges in Khanh Hoa province. On the side of Nha Trang University, Dr. Khong Trung Thang - the party secretary, the chairman of the university council, and representatives of related units participated. The workshop was organized in both in-person and online formats.
The workshop was organized to propose and build an entrepreneurial competencies framework for higher education institutions in Vietnam. At the workshop, delegates listened to presentations on the main contents including: Experience and practice in developing training activities for the subject of Innovation and Entrepreneurship at Nha Trang University, Thai Nguyen University of Science, Can Tho University; framework for building competitive capacity for innovation and entrepreneurship at universities in the Philippines; presenting a draft proposal for building an entrepreneurial competencies framework for higher education institutions in Vietnam. Delegates also discussed and exchanged ideas enthusiastically around these contents, giving further comments on the proposals for building an entrepreneurial capacity framework so that it is most suitable for the characteristics of university training, the entrepreneurial ecosystem in Vietnam in the current period and adapts well to changes and developments in the coming time.
The project Promoting Innovation and Entrepreneurship in Ecotourism to Support Sustainable Development in Vietnam and the Philippines was launched in July 2023. The ECOViP project is funded by the European Commission's Education, Audiovisual and Cultural Executive Agency (EACEA); 11 partners are participating in the project, including: Nha Trang University - Project Coordinator; Can Tho University; Thai Nguyen University of Science; Khanh Hoa Provincial Department of Tourism; University of San Carlos, Philippines; Polytechnic University of the Philippines; Lyceum University of the Philippines; Bojo Aloguinsan Ecotourism Association, Philippines; Portucalense University, Portugal; FH Joanneum University, Austria; University of Alicante, Spain. The main objective of the ECOViP project is to strengthen the capacity for entrepreneurship and innovation to sustainably develop the tourism industry in Vietnam and the Philippines. The project aims to promote the development of innovative interdisciplinary ecotourism start-up projects by students through cooperation with the business sector; at the same time, build a roadmap to improve tourism training programs with the cooperation of the business sector to increase the employability of students after graduation.
