Nha Trang University Expands International Cooperation in Coral Reef Ecosystem Research and Marine Conservation
On May 19th, 2026, in a bid to strengthen international cooperation in marine science, Nha Trang University welcomed a working delegation from the Guangxi Academy of Oceanography and Guangxi University of Chinese Medicine (China) to explore joint research orientations, coral reef ecosystem surveys, and marine ecological conservation in Nha Trang Bay.
Prof.Dr. Pham Quoc Hung, Vice President of Nha Trang University, hosted a working session with the delegation.
Representing NTU were Prof.Dr. Pham Quoc Hung, Vice President of Nha Trang University, accompanied by leaders from Office of External Cooperation, School of Fisheries and Life Sciences as well as research group from the Department of Aquaculture. The Chinese delegation was led by Ms. Cao Qingxian, Deputy Director of the Guangxi Academy of Oceanography, accompanied by scientists, engineers, and research specialists.
During the meeting, both parties exchanged views on the potential for collaboration across several key areas, including coral reef ecosystem research, marine biodiversity conservation, coastal environmental surveys, and the promotion of academic exchanges between scientists. Representatives from Nha Trang University outlined the institution's core strengths in fisheries training and marine science research, as well as its international cooperation priorities for the period ahead.

The visiting delegation also toured the university's facilities and laboratories and held professional consultations with faculty and researchers from the School of Fisheries and Life Sciences. Under the agreed programme, joint field surveys are scheduled to take place in Nha Trang Bay from May 20 to 22, 2026, with the aim of collecting data to support coral reef ecosystem research and marine ecological conservation.
The engagement is expected to deepen ties between Nha Trang University and international research and academic institutions, while opening new avenues for marine science research, technology transfer, and the development of high-quality human resources in the fields of fisheries and marine environmental science.
