Nha Trang University holds workshop “Sustainability in Tourism: Design Thinking Approach” under the ECOViP Project framework

On March 9th, 2026, Nha Trang University held a workshop themed “Sustainability in Tourism: Design Thinking Approach” under the ECOViP Project (WP8 - Ecohub). The workshop attracted a large number of lecturers and students, as well as representatives from the ECOViP Project Management Board.

The workshop featured a presentation by Prof. Alexander H. Kaufman, an international expert in sustainable tourism and innovation. During the session, Prof. Alexander H. Kaufman provided updated perspectives on global trends in sustainable tourism development and introduced the Design Thinking methodology, a creative approach that is being widely applied to address current challenges in the tourism industry.

Prof. Alexander H. Kaufman shared insights into sustainable tourism development trends and the application of Design Thinking in addressing challenges facing the tourism industry.

The workshop drew more than 150 lecturers and students, with discussions taking place in a lively and open atmosphere. The programme covered both academic and practical issues, enabling participants to grasp emerging trends in the tourism sector and strengthen the linkage between theory and practice.
A highlight of the workshop was an experiential session in which students worked in groups to develop ideas, design solutions and present proposals related to sustainable tourism development. Through the Design Thinking approach, student teams demonstrated creative thinking, teamwork and presentation skills, while their ideas received direct feedback from the expert to enhance completeness and practical feasibility.

Nha Trang University students  took part in group discussions to develop and present ideas on sustainable tourism development at the workshop.

Through the workshop, lecturers and students of Nha Trang University not only updated their professional knowledge but also had the opportunity to experience a creative thinking approach in teaching and research. Furthermore, the activity helped foster a dynamic academic environment, strengthen international cooperation and align training with sustainable development trends in the tourism industry.
