This year’s conference attracted more than 185 delegates, including more than 35 international experts from Taiwan, Thailand, the Philippines, Malaysia, India, etc., and 150 domestic delegates. This is an important forum for scientists, scholars, and experts to share research, exchange ideas, and propose solutions to problems in the marine industry. Nearly 100 reports were approved by the Organizing Committee for presentation at the conference, with 62 oral presentations and 35 poster presentations.

Keynote speakers included Prof. Ming-An Lee (Vice-President of NTOU) with his research on the impact of climate change on fisheries; Prof. Marco Abbiati (University of Bologna, Italy) presenting on biodiversity monitoring in the South Central region of Vietnam; Prof. Cheng-Yu Ku (Vice-President of NTOU) discussing groundwater resource management in Taiwan; and Prof. Trang Si Trung (Vice-chairman of university council) sharing on enhancing the value of shrimp by-products.

Prof. Dr. Pham Quoc Hung spoke at the symposium.

Speaking at the conference, Prof. Dr. Pham Quoc Hung emphasized that NTU and NTOU have a long-term cooperative relationship with the same starting point: NTU is the first aquaculture institute in Vietnam, and NTOU is the first aquaculture institute in Taiwan. Both universities have made great contributions to the aquaculture industry, especially marine aquaculture. The MFST 2025 symposium is a testament to the development of this relationship. With the attention of the Party and the Government through resolutions on science and technology, Prof. Dr. Pham Quoc Hung believes in the strong development in the future between the two universities.

MFST 2025 focuses on six main topics: Aquaculture Technology, Marine Environment and Climate Change Adaptation; Sustainable fishing and conservation of marine resources; Seafood Processing and Post-harvest; Marine Infrastructure, Transportation, and Smart Aquaculture; Green marine economy and tourism. Accepted papers will be published in the electronic proceedings, and the best papers may be published in the Journal of Marine Science and Technology (JMST) or the Journal of Fisheries Science and Technology (NTU).

In addition to the discussion sessions, the conference organized exhibitions to introduce new products and technologies in the maritime and fisheries sectors, along with sideline meetings to promote cooperation in training and research. MFST is a regular event held every two years, starting in 2012. NTU and NTOU have had a cooperative relationship since the 2000s, and the two sides officially established a strategic partnership in May 2024.
