Nha Trang University signed MoU with Avnet to establish an Innovation Lab for nurturing next-generation tech talent

March 1, 2022: Nha Trang University (NTU) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Avnet Asia Pte Ltd during a virtual ceremony.

Being effective for three years, the MoU confirms Avnet’s commitment is to share industry knowledge with NTU students through the establishment of an Innovation Lab, with a view to fostering Vietnam’s next generation of tech talent in the fast-growing IoT and telecommunications industries. In accordance with the terms of the MOU, Avnet will provide development kits and work with teaching staff to develop courses of practical lessons in the first year. From the second year onwards, the courses will be attended by at least 100 students per semester.

At the ceremony, Ms Tan Aik Hoon, Regional President, South Asia, Korea and Avnet United, stated that, “People have always been our most important resource in Avnet. Hence, partnering with tertiary organizations to groom the next generation of tech talents helps ensure the growth of both our industry and our organization. We are honored to be setting up an Innovation Lab at Nha Trang University with the support of valued suppliers. Together we have envisioned a dynamic environment where thoughts and ideas are transformed into products and solutions that make our world an even better place to live in. Through the Innovation Lab, Avnet hopes to help close the gap between university learning and industry experience. Successful students will graduate with future-proof,  workplace-ready skill sets, and the mindsets to contribute to the future innovation and evolution of technology.”

Dr. Quach Hoai Nam, Vice-Rector, Nha Trang University expressed the NTU's gratitude to Avnet and confirmed that “This cooperation will greatly benefit our faculties/institutes of Nha Trang University that are teaching subjects related to technology, electrical and electronics. In addition, it will also enrich our courses that are tailored to the traditionally important fisheries in the automation of monitoring, farming and transportation processes. It's great that now NTU faculty and students have access to the latest technology and work directly with leading industry leaders to learn and embrace cutting-edge technologies and solution on the market.”

This MoU with NTU is the second collaboration that Avnet has embarked on with Vietnam’s leading tertiary institutions. It follows an MoU with Hanoi University of Science and Technology, signed in 2017, to launch an IoT Masterclass Series for Engineering Students.
