Attending the meeting, there was Dr. Tan Min Pau – Head of the ASEAN-FEN Network Secretariat, ASEAN-FEN Network Advisors, and representatives of member universities including Terengganu University Malaysia (Malaysia), University of Sain Malaysia (Malaysia), AirLangga University (Indonesia), Brawijaya University (Indonesia), Prince of Songkla University (Thailand), Kasetsart University (Thailand), Can Tho University and University of Agriculture and Forestry (Vietnam). On the side of Nha Trang University, there was the attendance of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Trang Si Trung - Rector, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Quoc Hung - Director of Institute of Aquaculture and representatives of related units.
Speaking at the meeting, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Trang Si Trung welcomed the members of the ASEAN-FEN network to come work at the University, expressing his honor when Nha Trang University became the host of the IFS conference in 2022. The Rector of the University expressed his hope that the network members would support and coordinate with Nha Trang University to prepare well to successfully organize this seminar. Thereby, joining hands to contribute to the common development of the field of fisheries science in Southeast Asia. This is also a special opportunity for the staff, lecturers, and students of the University to learn experiences and knowledge from Southeast Asian scientists, and continue to improve the level of scientific research in fisheries.
The ASEAN-FEN network members also discussed issues related to the organization of the International Fisheries Workshop IFS 2022; visiting and surveying the facilities in the area where the workshop is planned to be held. The conference was organized to announce new research results, techniques, and applications in aquaculture, processing, economics, fisheries management, etc., as well as to exchange knowledge and update techniques and applications. New from all over Asia. It is expected that the IFS 2022 Conference will be held from December 5 to 7, 2022 at Nha Trang University with about 500 domestic and foreign scientists attending. The theme of the IFS 2022 Conference is “Adapt to changes”. The workshop is expected to contribute to strengthening and promoting cooperation in education, research, and information exchange as well as the exchange of staff and students in the field of aquaculture and fisheries among ASEAN countries.
ASEAN-FEN is a network of Southeast Asian Fisheries Training Universities consisting of 18 member schools from countries including Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia, Philippines. Every year, the members of this network will associate and alternately organize the International Fisheries Science Conference in different countries.
