On the morning of September 12, 2025, at the Hall No. 3 of Nha Trang University, Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son presented the Decision to recognize Dr. Quach Hoai Nam as Rector of Nha Trang University for the 2020-2025 term.

The ceremony was attended by leaders from the Ministry of Education and Training, the Party Committee and the People’s Committee of Khanh Hoa Province, along with representatives of local departments, universities and research institutes in the region, as well as public employees, laborers, lecturers and students of Nha Trang University.

Speaking at the ceremony, Minister Nguyen Kim Son congratulated the newly appointed Rector, Dr. Quach Hoai Nam, and commended the remarkable contributions of Nha Trang University throughout its over 66 years of establishment and growth. The Minister emphasized that Nha Trang University holds a key position not only in cultivating high-quality human resources for the South Central region but also as a leading hub for research and technology transfer, making meaningful contributions to the country’s socio-economic development, especially in the areas of marine science and technology, fisheries, tourism, and economics.

Immediately following the ceremony, Minister Nguyen Kim Son toured the university campus, visited the Traditional Hall, and subsequently convening a working session with the university’s senior leadership. During the working session, Nha Trang University outlined its strategic development plan for 2025-2030, with a vision toward 2045, which centers on the objective of becoming the regional key university for the South Central Coast region. Key strategic pillars were presented, including: enhancing academic prestige, updating curricula with international benchmarks, accelerating digital transformation, enhancing scientific research and technology transfer, expanding international partnerships, and developing high-quality human resources.
Dr. Quach Hoai Nam, the newly appointed Rector, expressed sincere appreciation for the trust placed by the Ministry of Education and Training, affirming a strong commitment to working with the university staff to preserve and advance its proud traditions, and to further develop Nha Trang University into a distinguished institution for education, research, and international integration.
Nha Trang University, originally established in 1959 as the Faculty of Fisheries, has evolved into a multidisciplinary higher education institution with more than 16,000 students across 65 academic programs at the undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral levels. The university currently employs 445 full-time lecturers, of whom 41% hold doctoral degrees. With its distinctive strengths in marine science, technology, and fisheries, the University has established partnerships with over 100 universities, research institutes, and international organizations, as well as more than 200 enterprises both domestically and abroad.
The ceremony and the working session chaired by Minister Nguyen Kim Son, not only marked a pivotal milestone in the development of Nha Trang University but also ushered in a new phase of strategic development, reinforcing the University’s position and influence in the Vietnamese and regional higher education system.
